Technology is all about streamlining and optimizing. The gadgets have decreased in size at an astounding rate in a relatively short period of time. Remember the size of your first cell phone? Or the size of a high end film camera ten years ago? It seems that they were designed in another century. Now the majority can fit comfortably in the palm of your hand.
Sony claims to have the smallest interchangeable lens camera ever manufactured. The Sony Alpha NEX-5 seems to be aimed at users who want the functionality of an SLR camera and the size and user experience of a compact camera.
Sony indicate that the features for the NEX-5 is:
- New α digital cameras with DSLR picture quality and responsive shooting
- World’s smallest and lightest interchangeable lens digital camera (NEX-5)
- 14.2 effective megapixels Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor
- 1080i HD movie recording (NEX-5) with stereo sound, fast and silent autofocus
- Intuitive new interface with Help Guide and Shooting Tips
- E-mount lens system compatible with α DSLR lenses (with optional Mount Adaptor)
- Sweep Panorama with 3D capability
The Sony Alpha NEX-5 will be available with a 16mm lens, an 18-200mm lens and a combination of the 16mm lens and a 18-55mm lens.I think that time will indicate whether users enjoy the Sony Alpha NEX-5.
